Gateway/Hwy 27 Initiative

Blakely’s East Gateway Project, an aesthetically pleasing entrance into the city at the intersection of the US 27 bypass and State Highway 62, has acquired the funds and completed the Environmental and Right of Way Acquisition Phase I of the project. The Construction Phase II, consisting of a welcome/educational center and landscaping and sidewalks will complete the initiative. The East Gateway will draw travelers off the bypass into the downtown Court Square of Blakely, thereby creating additional revenue for the city.

Funds for the project come from a partnership that includes Early County 2055, the Georgia Department of Transportation, the City of Blakely and the Advancing Early Initiative 2012.
